Are Canteens Really That Important?

When you're out camping, you're there to enjoy yourself. The last thing you want to worry about is your canteen. Canteens are supposed to make your venture in the outdoors more comfortable and convenient. That's why a good canteen can make or break your next camping trip.

First, a good canteen should be properly insulated to keep your water cold. When you're walking around and exploring, you'll very likely to get thirsty. If you go and grab your supply of water and realize how lukewarm it has gotten, it's going to make for a not so pleasureable experience. Cold water is especially crucial when you have to endure the often unpredictable weather of the outdoors. When the sun is beating down on your baseball cap, the temperature feels like it's one hundred degrees out, and you've been sweating as if you'd have been in a marathon, have cold water hand is extremely important. Having it or not will surely be a determining factor of how enjoyable your camping trip is.

Another benefit a canteen can be to camping is the fact that they are readily accessible. A canteen is usually attached to the wearer via a shoulder strap or a strap that affixes to the belt. A wearer doesn't have to fumble around his or her backpack for water when thirsty. Another advantage to having the canteen attached to the wearer is that it's harder to lose. People have the opportunity to lose a lot of things on their camping trips—especially keys and cell phones—but your canteen doesn't have to be one of them.

A good canteen will keep your water fresh. Now that canteens have experienced an "advancement" in how they are designed and put together it is definitely much more convenient to have on hand. The canteen's materials have come a long way. No longer solely constructed from metal or aluminum foil, the canteen won't succumb to rusting, keeping the water inside fresh and free of contaminants.

The modern canteen isn't like its many predecessors. The canteen is now specially designed, making it lightweight. Campers already have a lot to carry with them, and carrying around a heavy canteen would only make their load a bigger burden. Also, the kinds of canteens that are available and out on the market today don't weigh anywhere near as much as the ones that used to exist. Its portability is better than lugging around coolers, too.

Canteens of today are, in addition, much more durable. Its plastic construction—usually polycarbonate, polyethylene, or another synthetic plastic—guarantees that it can survive any kind of outdoor environment. Unlike the metallic canteen, a plastic canteen will resist dings or dents. This bad boy is even so strong and durable that regardless if it falls and hits the ground your water, beer, or any other liquid won't leak.

A reliable and durable canteen is awesome to possess and have it on your person on your camping excursion. They're lightweight, easy carry, and very sturdy. One of things you can do to guarantee that you have sound piece of mind when getting ready to spend time in the outdoors is knowing that you have selected and packed a long lasting canteen, allowing you to have fun on your vacation.
