What Does It Mean When You Draw The Hermit In A Tarot Card Reading

Have your friends been driving you crazy? Now is the time to get rid of them. Break an unnecessary habit. Eliminate unhealthy ruts and routine. Read the entire article to fully learn the tarot symbolism and tarot card meaning of the Hermit.

The Hermit In A Tarot Card Reading.
The Fool has learnt many things on his journey. The next stage of initiation has been reached and he must sit quietly for a time.

A familiar figure in religions is The Hermit or a religious recluse. The tarot symbolism of the Hermit is he represents the need to withdraw from the world for awhile to contemplate the meaning of life and seek enlightenment. By delibeartely isolating himself he is able to concentrate completely in union with spiritual powers.

A Hermit retires to the wilderness, to the top of the mountain or finds a distant cave for his solitary home of course this is just the extreme ways to go about it for us everyday folks. But here The Hermit learns inner wisdom and listens to the voice of his higher self. Most hermits in the tarot carry a lamp which is the tarot symbolism of spiritual light and knowledge. The light from the lamp illuminated the secrets of the unconscious, profound mysteries which are not easily revealed.

The tarot card Hermit is associated with Virgo which governs the sixth house of the zodiac. It's traditionally the sign of work and service to others. Selfless service is one way to rid ourselves of conceit and arrogance and as a means to purify the soul.

Nine is the number of the Hermit a number of completion, creativity and the universe.

When you draw The hermit in a tarot card reading, you have a pressing need to be alone, to think, reprioritize and commune with nature. You may feel achieved everything you have set out to do and wonder what's next is the most common tarot card meaning of The Hermit.

So you will not lose out on everything if you unplug the phone, cancel social engagements, leave the door unanswered and emails unreplied to think, make plans, meditate, visualize. YOu will soon realize that there are new things to earn, new avenues to discover. You may want to spend sometime in a retreat, take long solitary walks or travel alone. Peace and quiet are of the utmost importance now. Silence is golden says The Hermit for it illuminated the path ahead.

Another important tarot card meaning of The Hermit is you will soon realize that there is always something new to study like spiritual doctrines, philosophy and meditation.

Sometimes The Hermit can enter your life as a teacher. The person is likely to be unconventional teacher, but he will be someone wise and kind who can guide you in the right direction. Listen to the advice that is being given for it will be worth in gold.

When The Hermit appears in a tarot card reading it can be a warning against thoughtless action. Take precautions and discretion and be prudent in worldly affairs. Think, consider every angle and approach, take as much time to reach your conclusion before doin any action.

That's basically the tarot card meaning of The Hermit when you draw it in a tarot card reading.

Racing Dirt Bikes

So you want to start racing dirt bikes?

Who can blame you; dirt bike racing is an increasingly popular choice for many thrill seekers. It’s true that in the wrong hands racing dirt bikes can be incredibly dangerous but with a little care and attention and some experience there is no reason why you can’t have the adrenalin fuelled excitement while considerably minimising the risks many people associate with the sport.

Racing dirt bikes is a popular pastime with people of all age, many grandfathers and grandchildren take part in regular races and the younger you start the better you will be. Many professional bike racers started with dirt bike racing and they usually started at the age of 4 or 5. While you may consider this to be far too young, there is no reason you can’t get your children into practise when they hit their teenage years and are a good age to be trying out a mini dirt bike.

things to consider if you want to try racing dirt bikes.

The first thing you need to consider is your safety. When buying your bike and equipment make sure that you make safety of the most paramount importance. If you don’t ride safe you won’t ride long. Even second hand bikes can be purchased in a ready to ride condition and you should make sure that all parts are in very good working order before you start racing. If you have no or little knowledge of racing dirt bikes then you should get a professional to look at your bike for you and make the necessary repairs or replacements.

Now, watch others when they are racing dirt bikes so you get a feel for how it’s done. If you’ve never ridden before this will give you a very good idea of whether you really want to give it a go and whether it is something you think you will be good at.

Will I be getting big air when I start racing dirt bikes.

When you start racing dirt bikes it is highly unlikely you will get more than a foot or two off the ground when you hit a jump, and this is a good thing. Experience is crucial before you even consider escalating 10 feet into the air. If you don’t know what you are doing and you don’t have the experience of this then you will probably land it badly and get yourself hurt. Start small and build big.

7 Top Camping Safety Tips

No doubt about it, camping can be fun. But, if you don't pay attention to safety, your fun camping outing can turn into the camping trip from Hell. What are some of the most important camping safety tips you should know?

1. Plan Ahead. Do your research. Make sure the campground you've chosen is a safe one. Make sure there are no current fire dangers. Check out the weather. Any health alerts in the area, such as dangerous bacteria count in the water, or outbreak of any rodent-carrying viruses?

2. Pack the Emergency Kit. Be prepared for cuts, bee stings and allergic reactions. Bring antihistamines, antiseptic, bug sprays and insect repellents, pain relievers, bandages, sunscreen and if possible, a snake-bite kit.

An emergency kit should also include the following items: Whistle, flashlight, compass, a small Swiss Army knife, razor blades, tweezers, magnifying glass, sterilized water packets for cleaning wounds, emergency blanket, thermometer, cold pack, and a mirror. A mirror can be helpful when signaling for help. Some people also use a CD. If you can afford them, a pair of night-vision goggles can also be a help in an emergency.

3. Arrive at the Campsite Early. Arriving early, with ample daylight, allows you to examine the entire campsite and set up while there's still light. Be on the lookout for sharp objects, broken glass, huge ant beds, branches, poison ivy, hazardous terrain and bees.

4. Build your Tent on a Safe Spot. Make sure your tent is flame-resistant and keep it at a safe distance from the campfire. Try to pitch your tent on elevated land so it doesn't flood in case of rain. In order to keep the bugs out, make sure you close your tent immediately upon entering and leaving.

5. Go Over Safety Issues with Family Members. Make sure family members are aware of poisonous plants in the area. Be sure the children understand that they should never drink from any stream or river, regardless of how clean it may look. Finally, issue each member of your family a whistle for emergency use only.

6. Be Fire Safe. Make sure there are no current fire restrictions before building any fire, and don't build a fire if there are strong winds. When you do build a fire, keep it in the fire ring, and make sure there are no flammable items near the fire. Do not use heating devices or candles inside the tent.

Never leave your campfire unattended, and keep the area clear of leaves and twigs. Before going to bed, make sure the campfire is property put out by drowning it with water.

7. Be Aware of Wild Animals. Be sure to familiarize yourself and your family with safety concerning wild animals. Wild animals have acute senses of smell. Make sure you keep your campsite clean and free of food or garbage which might attract them. It is best to store all food, garbage and strong-smelling items (such as soap or toothpaste) in bear-resistant containers or your vehicle. Keep your sleeping bag and tent completely free of food and food odors, and set up your cooking and eating area at least 100 yards from your tent. Do not go to sleep in the same clothing you cooked in, as even the cooking smells can attract bears and other wild animals.

While it may seem like attention to safety takes the fun out of camping, in reality it helps ensure that your camping vacation is a fun time for the whole family. And, isn't having fun the point of camping?

Cuckoo Clock Repair

Has anyone ever told you that if you have cuckoo clock repair work to be done, it is not worth your time? So many people will say it is easier to get a new cuckoo clock than to just repair an old one. Depending on what needs to be repaired on a cuckoo clock, it may be easier to get a new clock. Often times, its not "just a clock" when talking about cuckoo clocks. There can be much sentimental value for a person that owns a cuckoo clock. It could be handed down to you from a grandparent. Or just one you bought when you were on vacation that is irreplaceable.

With the internet now days, it is becoming easier to find the parts needed to repair a cuckoo clock. There are many clock shops that are willing to repair cuckoo clocks. These shops carry everything needed for repairing cuckoo clocks from the pendulum to the cuckoo itself. These shops also offer videos on repairing cuckoo clocks. Just remember, if you do order the repair parts, make sure they are the exact parts you need. So if you do want to repair your cuckoo clock, that is an option, just a little time consuming.

Here are a few things to consider when having someone else repair your cuckoo clock.

If you live in a small town, do you want to take the chance of sending your clock through the mail to a clock repair shop? If your cuckoo clock has sentimental value, do you want to put it in the hands of the mail carrier? Just because you have written on the box "handle with care" doesn't mean proper care is always taken. Your cuckoo clock could be in worse condition when it returns to you than the day you had sent it, which requires more repairing or even being unrepairable.

How much will it cost to send your cuckoo clock off for repairs? Shipping your cuckoo clock to the repair shop plus the parts and service and then the shipping back to you can add up.

Is there a clock repair shop in your area you can take your cuckoo clock to? Are you able to pack up you clock in a box and drive it down to the clock repair shop? If so, this may be the way you want to go. Someone specializing in cuckoo clock repair has the knowledge and expertise needed for fixing your special clock.

Other questions to ask yourself is, what needs to be repaired on your cuckoo clock? Is it something that is easy to repair? Do you have to take the cuckoo clock apart to get to the inside movements? How easy will it be to put your clock back together?

These are all questions that you need to ask yourself. You are the only one that can answer them as well. Cuckoo clocks are not just another clock that you have in your home. The cuckoo clock you own means something to you and is hard to replace. When you encounter a problem with your cuckoo clock, you don't just throw it away and start looking for a new one. You are throwing memories away when throwing your cuckoo clock away.

In conclusion, cuckoo clocks can be repaired at home or sent to a clock repair shop. It all depends on how well you are with your hands. Shipping your cuckoo clock through the mail takes the chance of getting broke or possibly even lost. That may not be a chance you want to take if your cuckoo clock has sentimental value. A cuckoo clock with sentimental value is irreplaceable. The best thing to do is, figure out what the problem is with your cuckoo clock and do a little research. Figure out the complete cost of shipping and repairs if you do want to send off your cuckoo clock. Look into ordering the parts needed to repair your clock. Talk to friends and family, maybe they know how to repair a cuckoo clock and would be willing to fix it for you for a small fee or even free of charge.

West Coast Trail-Chez Monique

The West Coast Trail has many great places to stop and enjoy. Chez Monique unites east with west, right on the beach along the trail. this is a unique stop, offering some of the most missed things on this mult-day hiking adventure.

The 77 km of rugged west coast trail gives little relief from the grueling days of hiking. Backpacking along muddy trails, over and around constant obstacles builds appreciation of the finer things very quickly. The simplest things become pleasures along this hiking adventure. But most people do not really plan in the little pleasures that make it a great trip. Lucky for us hikers, there is a brief rest stop along the way.

Between Carmanah Creek and the Carmanah Light Station, Peter and Monique Nytom operate a restaurant called "Chez Monique" right off the beach at their home. Over the past few years, the couple has built up their garden to supply some of the food in the restaurant. Monique enrolled in a university farming and gardening program a couple of years ago to learn more about developing the west coast garden. They have enjoyed the help of Wwoofers since 2008 to build up and develop the garden further.

Chez Monique is an oasis in the middle of the rugged trail. Offering burgers, pop, beer, candy, and conversation, Monique and Peter give welcome relief to weary hikers at the 45 km mark. Camping on the beach near the restaurant is available, giving a second chance at conversation in the morning. Breakfast at Chez Monique, along with coffee or hot chocolate, tops off the stop, but makes it really hard to leave. Peter is a member of the Ditidaht band and Chez Monique is on one of their more remote reserves. Few of the Ditidaht people live on these remote reserves for more than a few months at a time, but Monique and Peter have been here year round for many years. This is starting to change as they age and need to be nearer to support. Monique is Metís, originally from the east, from French Canada, but has made her home on Vancouver Island, contributing significantly over the years to the Ditidaht and all the First Nations peoples over her adult life. Each year now is a question of whether this amazing restaurant will continue to exist as the couple gets older. They are hoping their children and grandchildren will continue their home and legacy.

Peter regularly gathers supplies from Port Refrew and fishes in his boat, while Monique sets the tone at the restaurant and garden. While Peter tends to quiet, Monique is outspoken and ready to converse about the area and politics at the drop of a toque, but is mostly mindful of taking care of the guests in the restaurant at any time. The Wwoofers have added a new dimension to the place, giving it an international character and creating more opportunities for conversation at a stopover at Chez Monique.

The meals are great, and very welcome if you have only brought dried food or Ramen noodles. A burger and a beer or pop is a reward for navigating about half the trail. Don’t expect to pay city prices here. The prices are a fair bit higher than in town, but of course, they have to get it there by boat. If you want to have a meal, a couple of drinks, coffee and breakfast in the morning, expect to throw out about $50 or more, so make sure you take enough money. Don’t forget the crab or salmon at the Nitinat ferry also. Expect another $30 to $40 there as well.

Heading north from Chez Monique, expect to take a side trip to Carmanah Light Station. If the tides are right, heading down the cliff at the end of the station to the beach, and off toward Dare Beach on the lower route. Heading south takes you to Carmanah Creek and then on to Bonilla Point toward Walbran Creek, and increasing difficulty on the trail.

Hiking the West Coast Trail is a challenge at any time. Once you have figured out the organization, the gear, the food, the clothing, and the fitness, there is the actual trail itself. Full of incredible scenery and experiences, the trail is a remarkable personal journey. A break from the inward, reflective nature of the hiking traverse happens at Chez Monique, with a brief interlude of great conversation, food, and beverage. Don’t miss it.

Attract a Beautiful Woman Through Texting - How to Flirt Over Text

Texting is an important part of building sexual tension when attracting beautiful women. One of the best things about texting is that you have time to think about what you are going to say - an opportunity which you don't get in face to face communications. What's more, women love text messaging. If you've ever observed a girl in a social setting, you'll notice how much many text messages she sends. Texting seems to be rapidly replacing phone conversations as a favored communication method.

So when you use texting in the right way, you can build enough attraction that you won't have to do so much in person, when you see her next. There's just one problem...most guys have no clue what to write in their text messages. They tend to write the same way in which they hold conversations, which means their texts are usually plain and straight to the point. Women on the other hand use text messaging as a key tool for keeping in touch with family and friends, meaning their messages are far more expressive and emotive.

So guys, before you send a text to a beautiful woman who you want to attract, think very carefully about how that message will advance the flirting and sexual tension you're working on creating. Here are some top tips to using texting effectively for attracting women.

Easing the path to the first date
When you first get a girl's number, it's easy to lose the initial attraction in the time before you make that all-important first phone call. With texting, you can bridge the gap and keep the attraction alive. Whilst texting should never replace a phone call, sending a few carefully thought-out messages can be an excellent way to get a beautiful girl to think about you some more. And when you go to call her, she'll immediately connect with the flirtatious signals that you've already given her. So texting can actually make it easier to make that first call and set up the first date.

Breaking the ice
Texting should involve some gentle teasing and familiarity. It's a good idea to start by referring to an event or conversation that happened when you first met. Perhaps you teased her about something during that meeting that you can refer to again - it will easily bring a smile to her face.

Date follow-up
Use texting to continue the sexual tension which is hopefully building nicely between you now. Don't say anything crass or anything which makes it too clear that you really like the girl. Back up any nice remarks with a little teasing, for example "tomorrow will be fun, just don't do anything silly in front of my buddies."

Keeping up the momentum
Sexual tension can be lost as quickly as it is gained, so it is important to keep building the attraction at every stage of the relationship and make sure the lines of communication are always open. As the relationship progresses, you can get more daring with your messages and take the teasing to a whole new level.

Do's and Don'ts of Texting
In summary, here are some key things to remember about flirty texting etiquette:

DO...

• Keep messages short and sweet (save longer chats for the phone)

• Keep things fun and playful

• Retain an air of mystery and keep up the sexual tension

• Develop your own unique style

• Use what you know about her to tease her

On the other hand, DON'T...

• Answer any deep questions (that's for phone conversations)

• Send the same texts to every woman - you must make each message unique and personal

Combating Laziness In Your Children Is Easy With These Great Tips

While diet often bears the brunt of the blame by experts looking at how overweight many children are these days, many of them dangerously so, another one of the culprits is lifestyle. If you look at the amount of sitting the average person does these days, it's no wonder our bodies are not in tip top shape. We sit at our computers while working, sit in our cars, sit while eating, sit in the living room at home, and our kids even sit through most of the school day.

Give them a little time to play around and what do they do? Sit in front of the TV to watch movies or shoot each other in a virtual computer world.

But with some intervention on your part, you can break some of the bad habits modern children are developing and give them a gift worth giving—an inclination for an active lifestyle. Here are some tips on getting you started.

Make and Enforce Rules

Don't you love being the parent? Hey, you're the boss here, so use it to everyone's advantage. I remember when I was a kid and adults used to love to rub it in by saying annoying things like "because I said so" or "I don't care if you like it or not." Hey, we listened didn't we?

And more often than not, the "misery" they were subjecting us to against our will was better for us than whatever we had previously been doing. Funny how an order to go outside and find something better to do could end up being one of the best play sessions we ever had.

Start making rules, and in some cases, don't be afraid to be a little authoritarian. I don't mean to control their every thought and little action, but if it's time for them to get off their butt and go find something to do outdoors, say so. Give them chores even—gasp!

At the very least, give them set times when they can be indoors watching television, and stick to them.

Become More Active

You can do a lot for teaching your children to be more active by being more active yourself. Hey, they learn a lot of their behavior from us lazy bums (not a crack at you—I've been guilty myself at times). In any event, these are not your trends, they are societal trends, but by becoming the type of person who's always out doing things, and involving your children, you will spend a lot more time with them while teaching them the habits they need to know.

Make Outdoor Excitement Regular

While you're developing your active lifestyle, full of side hobbies, good eating, and trips to the gym, make regular planned activity trips a thing for the whole family. Become a group of dorky weekend warriors. Bring them out to do exciting things like going camping, hiking, or playing at the beach.

What kid doesn't love these types of things?

Whether or not your kids develop lazy habits and sedentary lifestyle is largely within your control. I realize it won't always be easy to find the time it takes to make these things happen, but such is the life of a modern parent. If you want healthy children, you may have to make some sacrifices here and there to make that happen, even if it means a slight income reduction.

The Best Bang For Your Buck Pocket Bike Mods

I always see alot of questions similar in nature to "Will this setup work with my bike?", "What parts should I buy?", "How much will this increase my power?" from newbies entering the sport, so I have decided to make a list of what pocket bike performance parts are best for your bike.

This list is for people on a low budget and also applies to those that have a bit of money to spend aswell. It will be set out in the format "Budget Mods", "Average Mods" and "Serious Tuner". Be advised that all CAG engines are different and performance increases vary on each bike. This guide should help you spend your money more wisely on the right modifications to get your bike going at it's full potential with the money you have to spend.

The pocket bike modifications listed are all available in Australia, but may need some looking around for. The prices listed next to each part is the general recommended retail price, please do not use this as a buying guide as prices will vary from different suppliers. Make sure to shop around for better prices, and also check with the supplier that these parts will fit your style of pocket bike.

Budget Mods:

Timing Key - Increases your engines timing by 10 degrees, cheap and VERY effective part, But please note this increases performance on some engines, but can also decrease performance in others, it depends what your timing is set at in the factory. (RRP $20)

Fibreglass Reeds - Replace your stock metal reed with a high performance Fibreglass one. Fibreglass reeds allow more and faster fuel into the carb, this resulting in a faster burning of fuel, which increases low, mid and top end power. (RRP $20-$30)

Performance Air Filter and V Stack - If your bike came with a black air cleaner instead of an air filter, its loosing potential power, by adding a high performance air filter and vstack your allowing more and faster air into your engine, which will increase performance and engine life. (RRP $30-$40)

Hi Flow Fuel Filter - This is not a performance mod but it is one of the most important things that should be considered when buying modifications, If your fuel line does not have a fuel filter, there is a very good chance that dirt or foreign objects have got inside your fuel and are now blocking your carb. By installing this cheap modification it protects your engine from harm by dirt, plastic, etc. It is a must for every bike . (RRP $7-$15)

HP Clutch Springs - All CAGS come with 3 shoe clutches, the major let down with these clucthes are the springs. A good set of HP clutch springs will make your acceleration alot better over stock and coming out of coners etc, you will have alot more power. A good cheap investment. (RRP $15-$25)

These mods are a very good starting point to modifying, these parts can be fitted if you have general engine knoweldge or instructions. The flywheel, clutch and carb must all be removed to install these mods, if in doubt you can take your bike to a pocket bike repair shop and they would gladly install them for a cheap fee.

Average Mods:

Fatboy Exhaust and Tank - This exhaust system is an awesome upgrade over the stock exhaust, many winning pocket bike racers around the world use this exhaust and swear by it. It's a very cheap upgrade and will really open up your engine, the Fatboy Exhaust is that big, it comes with a smaller fuel tank so the pipe can fit. (RRP $90-$160)

High Performance Carb - The stock CAG carb is only 12.88mm by upgrading to a larger carb etc. 14/14 or WT-603 which are the most popular choices in carbs when it comes to racing you increase your engines performance all round by allowing more fuel and air to get burnt and this will increase your low, mid and top end power. (RRP $90-$160)

Heavy Duty 2 Shoe Clutch - A 2 shoe clutch is better for light people, once it gets going its awesome alot better than a 3 shoe clutch with springs, the only down side to this modification is you must adjust the springs perfect for when the clutch engages. (RRP $40-$70)

High Performance Piston Rings - HP Piston Rings Offer more compression and are a good cheap investment, will give a small increase in power. (RRP $10-$20)

Lightened Piston - A lightened piston is alot better than the stock piston and is alot better quality, will give a small increase in power. (RRP $30-$50)

Ported Cylinder - Getting a cylinder ported to your engine is one of the most important mods that can be done, a cylinder with boost ports, larger exhaust ports and the correct squish set, will give an insane power increase, Very good for the money. (RRP $80-$90)

These mods are for the more experienced racer that can handle alot more power over stock, these parts will be best installed by a shop rather than risk doing it your self. You will be amazed at the power increase.

Serious Tuner:

2 Peice High Compression Headkit - A headkit consists of a cylinder, piston, extra cooling plate, a high quality spark plug and some even with a changeable compression dome, This is where your engine gets insane power, by increasing it to a 49cc not a 40cc like most CAG's. A head kit tuned to the rest of the engine correctly is the best value for money product. (RRP $100-$400)

Full Circle Stroker Crank - A full circle stroker is best suited to an engine wit a headkit. Installing a full circle stroker crank (FCSC) will make your bike a 52cc but to get this going perfect the crank must be balanced to your piston. This is done by experienced pocket bike shops, once you install the FCSC you will never want to ride a bike with a half circle crank again. (RRP $110-$130)

4 Petal Reed Cage - Allows alot more and faster fuel into your engine with 2 dual reed sections allowing for 4 reeds, this gives you improved fuel flow and power throughout low, mid and top end. You will not be dissapointed: (RRP $120-$200)

Zocchi CAG Race Pipe - Hand made italian race exhaust, cannot go wrong here will run absolutley awesome with a headkit and a good carb. Awesome power increase from low, mid and top end. (RRP $160-$200)

The real art to serious performance upgardes is getting your engine made to run perfect with the modifications. This is achieved with the correct porting and tuning. If the above modifications are ran with all of the average mods and a timing key, you will have an insaneley powerful machine. They will easily add 20 km/h to your top end with stock gearing. Also be advised while adding these mods a final gear change will be needed to get the most out of the modifications. If your engine is tuned and ported correctly you will be keeping up easily with stock watercooled pocket bikes, if not beating them. With all of these mods, they are not made just to be fitted onto your bike. The best thing you could do is to take it to your local pocket bike repair or performance shop and get them to fit everything correctly and tune the engine to the modifications, and then it's just a matter of holding on :)

5 Tents Camping Myths Busted!

Tents camping can be a really fun experience and many people are hooked to it. However, some still shy away from the idea because of some camping myths circulating. So to help you overcome these discouraging factors, here is a list of camping myths and how they can be so untrue.

1. You Cannot Have Great Tasting Meals While Camping There may be some truth to this back when the old fashioned methods of cooking like pit barbecuing are still in use. But now that better tents camping tools and equipments have been invented, cooking outdoors has become as easy as 1-2-3. You no longer have to be limited to canned pork and beans and instant noodles because with these new cooking equipments, you can cook just about almost anything you can prepare at the convenience of your home kitchen.

2. Sleeping Outdoors Will Be Uncomfortable And Inconvenient Since you are far away from the shelter of your home, you will really have to say goodbye for a while to the soft bed and air conditioned room that you are familiar with, but it does not mean you cannot enjoy the same level of comfort and convenience that they offer. Well-made camping tents are stable and provide good shelter, and high quality camping beds can be just as good as the one you have back at home. There are also portable air cooling and heating tools especially designed for camping trips.

3. Taking A Lot Of Convenience Tools Will Only Be An Extra Baggage When you go out camping, you really need to pay a lot of attention to your baggage. You cannot take with you your entire house or will tire yourself down, especially if your camping trip includes hiking. But this does not mean you have to give up everything altogether. You can now find portable furniture like camping chairs. You do not have to endure sitting on the ground or on stones because camping chairs can easily be tucked along with your baggage. Most camping chairs have a folding design which makes them a lot more portable than you might think.

4. I Might Get Attacked By Wild Animals In The Wilderness There are certainly spots where you would definitely encounter wild animals that can attack humans, but these areas are usually controlled by the local government and tents camping and civilian exploration may be prohibited. It is best to always go for advertised and promoted tents camping sites because these places are safer and usually rid of potential dangers. Always obtain sufficient information about the camping site before going.

5. Only Professionals Can Explore The Wilderness Safely It goes without saying that camping requires some knowledge and basic survival skills but nothing that requires a lot of training or long experience. Unless of course you are planning to go to far-reaching and secluded places, you do not really need to be an expert. All you have to do is read some Camping 101 books and guides for the basic things that you need to know. Most camping tools also include an in-dept user manual for proper and safe use.

Are you enlightened now? As you can see, there is really nothing that should stop you from enjoying the outdoors. Do not be left out just because of some myths which are untrue in the first place. Camping can be fun and exciting without the unnecessary troubles many people associate with them.

Camping, Hiking, and Backpacking - Must Have Essentials

Camping and Hiking - Basic Must Have Essentials

Many of us take to the great outdoors to escape the tediousness of our daily lives. It’s a great place to get away from the stresses of our daily routines and can be quite therapeutic under the right circumstances. Under the wrong circumstances, however, the camping and hiking adventure can quickly become a nightmare. Here are a few pointers and suggestions that will keep your outdoor adventure enjoyable and worry-free.

Before setting out on a camping or hiking trip do your homework. Know the area you intend to travel to, become familiar with area maps and if possible learn to use a compass.

Plan your trip, thoroughly, let others know where you are going and when you plan to return. Never travel alone, there is safety in numbers, travel with companions.

Next the list of necessary supplies needed to safely proceed with our trip into the backcountry. Every trip into the outdoors requires us to carry a basic group of items that

Must be included in every backpack on the trail. These include water, extra food, a compass and maps, first aid kit, flashlight, pocket knife or multi-tool, waterproof matches and lighter, space blanket, twine or fishing line, and extra clothing and raingear. These items are for surviving the outing and should be carried every time you go into the wilderness. What I’m trying to say is even though you may not use these items, having them and not needing them is much better than needing them and not having them.

The smart move when hiking and camping is to be safe in all things. Additional comfort items you might consider are insect repellent, whistle for summoning help, cell phone or some other communication device is a great addition for safety’s sake and last but not least a big bag of common sense.

With these basics you will be prepared for the unexpected while on your camping trip and they could potentially save your life.

Now that you don’t have to worry about being prepared for the unexpected you can pause and enjoy the beauty that Mother Nature has for you.

Enjoy

Sales Letter Examples – Which Pieces to Put in a First-Class Salesletter

As you are crafting a sales letter, its usually beneficial to look for samples of various other profitable sales letters to utilize as ideas in your own sales copy.

Good copy typically consists of distinct logical structure or flow.

Whenever considering a sales letter example to figure out if it's a high quality one to emulate, you must ensure it has many of the following parts.

this isn't a whole checklist of all the components, for this (along with good examples for every part) go to the hyperlink at the bottom of the page to get a free copy of my Sales Letter Sample PDF.

Some top essentials typical to top selling sales letter examples are:

Headlines:

The aim of the headline is to Instantly capture your reader's undivided attention and get them to start reading the other areas of the sales copy.

You should not aim to sell from the headline. The headline is the "Advertisement for the Ad".

Opening:

Your lead or opening is simply a brief sentence or paragraph, in which you move from the headline and deck copy into your rest of the letter.

There isn't a set in stone rule for creating this particular copy, nevertheless some basic strategies that work well good tend to be:

* Starting a story

* Presenting a question

* Offering a fast synopsis of what you are planning to say to them

* Identifying the chief trouble your product resolves

Agitate Problem/Build Rapport:

Every product or service is the resolution for a problem, therefore to effectively market the product you should help your visitors understand that you both Comprehend and also EMPATHIZE with their problem.

By simply showing them that you also once experienced the challenge, but today you've solved it, you develop trust and rapport with your visitors and help concentrate their own imagination on the issue. (And their desire to fix it.)

Bullets:

Your bullets will be the workhorses within your selling process. This is where you describe in detail all the distinct features and advantages of the product or service.

The main focus here should be on the benefits of the product. Tell them what each and every aspect essentially does for them and means to them.

Each bullet ought to concentrate on just one advantage of your product.

Testimonials:

Testimonials (as well as case studies) can be the best ways to provide social proof as well as validate the promises you are making in your sales copy.

You should use as many testimonials as you possibly can throughout your sales letter.

The more facts you offer regarding the person leaving the testimonial, the more credible the testimonials are going to be.

Guarantee/Risk Reversal:

To maximize conversion rates you should shift as much of the associated risk within the purchase from the shoulders of your buyer onto your shoulders as the seller.

Therefore creating a solid guarantee is important if you wish to optimize conversions.

Bonuses:

Not all products or services will need bonuses, however often they will help to improve response rates. A couple of points to be aware of when giving bonuses are... First, they have to be related to the main offer.

Next you need to ensure the actual bonuses that you are giving are of good enough level of quality that they could be offered as stand alone products.

Primary Call To Action:

How you structure your order area and main call to action area can have a substantial impact on the letters response rates.

In your order box area you should sum up the offer you have created, then confidently ask for the sale.

PS, PPS, PPPS:

It is frequently reported that your PS is the 2nd most read element of any sales page. This is because a lot of visitors will read your headline then scroll down to the end of the page, before beginning to go through the main copy of your letter.

For this reason it really is essential to ensure you've got a good and engaging PS (or even a few) at the bottom.

My personal testing shows that when you intend to employ a PS, you need to use either 1 or three. For whatever reason, only two PS's appear to convert less normally as compared to one or three.

If a sales letter example you are considering features the majority of the elements above, then it is probably one worth making use of in your own writing.

However the areas in this article are only a small piece of the profitable components I have uncovered that happen to be common to almost all high converting sales letters.

To view a detailed video tutorial in which I take you step-by-step through all 19 components, crucial to a profitable sales letter, and also to get my free in depth 20 page Sample Sales Letter PDF, that features explanations of every one of the 19 elements, coupled with real samples from real sales letters, just click the link below.

Practical Prince Edwards Island Campgrounds: An Overview of Two PEI Campgrounds

Not all canadian campgrounds in the Maritime provinces have lush forests and rugged mountain-like surroundings as on Cape Breton Island. Although conveniently close to the ocean, these two Prince Edward Island campgrounds are more practical campgrounds, having modern amenities, but fewer luxuries than other campgrounds.

The scenery at or near these tranquil sites are worth it. Make sure you call or contact these campgrounds before you make plans. Just as campgrounds in the northern United States often close for the winter, not all Canadian Maritimes campgrounds will be open during their mild winters.

** Just 1.5 Km east of the Conderation Bridge on the TransCanada Hwy (Rte 1) in Prince Edward Island you'll find the family-run Sun 'n' Shade Campground

It's adjacent to the Confederation Trail which pleases travellers who want to take advantage of the walking/bicycling on the trail, and it's close to beautiful beaches.

The campground accommodates several dozen tents, trailers, and big RVs, with both open and shaded sites, some of which are pull-thrus with 20-30 amp electrical service, and fire-pits. Onsite you'll find free hot showers, laundry, dumping station, pay phone, cable, a camp store with ice.

The luxury features include cable TV hookups, modem access, and horseshoe and volleyball facilities. Leashed pets are allowed, and they take Mastercard and Visa as payment. Oh, and they have music shows nightly (country, bluegrass, gospel).

There's even a cabin or two for rent for around $40. Camping sites range in price from $19 to $25 Canadian, with $5 per extra person. Phone (902) 855-3492

** Cedar Dunes provincial park is a stone's throw away from the West Point lighthouse on western Prince Edward Island. The beautiful beaches stretch for miles, and the park provides children's activities, and supervised swimming.

Guided nature walks are also offered by a staff naturalist.

The scenery is simple a wide open view of the ocean and coastline. No trees, no mountains. Just flat ocean and grass-lined and sandy coastline views. It's beautifully desolate.

From the 59 wide-open campsites all you see is ocean, and grassy-sandy coastline.

Nearby to the campground is the Canada's only functioning lighthouse that funcations as an inn. In addition to being a lighthouse and inn, the West Point Lighthouse houses a museum of artifacts and photographs documenting the history of Island lighthouses. Also nearby is the Prince Edward Island Potato Museum in O'Leary, PEI.

The campground features laundromat, hot showers, flush toilets, kitchen shelter and a dumping station. Pets are permitted on leashes. Loan-out of recreation equipment available. Phone: (902)859-8785 in-season or off-season (902)859-8790.

Buying Tips For Camping Stoves

The vast selection of camping stoves tagged with technical terms a layman wouldn’t understand, may be scary for some who are not that experienced when it comes to camping and buying camping stoves. However, purchasing the right camping stove is not as hard as it may seem.

Here are some considerations you should take into account when buying a camping stove. With these information and simple tips, selection and purchase would be much easier

Size

Camping brands like Coleman offer one, two and multiple burner camping stoves. What you should opt for should depend on the volume of cooking you intend to do. If you’re solo packing, a camping stove with one or two burner may do but if you intend to go camping with the whole family or plan to have a camping cook feast with a bunch of friends, go for a camping stove that has two or more burners to save time cooking.

Type of Fuel

After deciding which stove size is suitable for your camping needs, the next thing to consider is the type of fuel you’ll want to use. Your fuel options include propane, white gas (otherwise known as Coleman fuel), unleaded gas, butane or kerosene. However it is mostly recommended to use either propane or white gas only.

Out of all the camping stoves, those that are fuelled by white gas produce the most heat. It is the more environment-friendly choice for it burns cleanly without any odor or effect on food taste as well as produces less waste.

Many of the Coleman camping stoves that are fuelled with white gas operate on dual fuel system which means that the stove can run either on white gas or unleaded gasoline. However, it is best that you use only white gas unless during cases when you run out of it and can’t buy any.

Propane camp stoves on the other hand are simpler and more easy to use, but weigh a lot heavier compared with white gas. But propane Coleman camping stoves are also great choices because of their easiness to operate and ignite, and good performance in warm climates and at low elevations. Most Coleman camping stoves powered with propane fuel even have electronic ignitions to save time and energy.

Type of Camping Activity

Another consideration to make is the type of camping you intend to do during your trip. For example, if you plan to go backpacking, choose a camping stove that is lightweight, has a single burner for this is easier to carry in your load.

But if you intend to go on a family camping trip, a group hike or RV camping, it is more appropriate to opt for three or four burner stoves that would allow you to create a grand fiesta for everyone.

Now, if you’re planning to go on a beach camping trip or have a backyard party where you’ll probably want to do some grilling on the side, a combination of a stove and grill is the perfect choice for you.

Many camping brands such as Coleman provides you with a wide array of quality camp stoves and background information on its features to make your choice much easier.

The Benefits and Drawbacks of using Co2 Extinguishers

Co2 extinguishers are not appropriate for all types of small fires. Some fires can be spread by using a Co2 extinguisher, although some fires can be put out rapidly with a Co2 extinguisher. Knowing when and how to use the Co2 extinguisher can save your life, not to mention your property.

The canister of a Co2 extinguisher holds carbon dioxide in a tightly packed compound of liquid. When you release the compound into the air, the liquid compound converts into a mist of dry ice. this mist smothers the base of the fire very much the same way a blanket would. The temperature of the mist and the smothering effect are responsible for the neutralization of oxygen. Oxygen is necessary to keep the fire alive and the neutralization of oxygen discontinues the fire’s ability to thrive.

The lack of oxygen in the ashes and the cold temperature of the mist also help prevent the fire from flaring up again after it has been extinguished. this is a very important element when dealing with small fires, as flare ups are quite common and can be responsible for more damage than the original fire, as the individual has relaxed their guard because they believed the fire was out.

A fire that is caused from organic products, like paper or wood that has caught fire from something such as the fireplace, is likely to spread from a Co2 extinguisher. The most likely scenario is that the initial blast that the extinguisher puts out will throw small burning bits of material and this will cause the fire to spread. A fire that involves metals which are combustible do not react well to Co2 extinguishers, either, as the metals are likely to draw on the carbon and spread more rapidly.

Any fire that is caused by or accelerated by liquid flammables is a good choice for a Co2 extinguisher. Fires involving solvents, paints, petrol, propane, natural gas, or butane often respond very well to a Co2 extinguisher. Make sure that you hold the nozzle toward the base of the fire and sweep it side to side. Standing above the fire and blasting the contents of the extinguisher into the middle of flame will cause the fire to expand much like blowing forceful air into water. The center of the fire will respond by billowing outward, spreading more flame to all sides of the fire. Aiming at the base is crucial for fire containment.

It is vital for your personal safety to hold the Co2 extinguisher by the appropriate handle. Because the compound inside the extinguisher turns into a dry ice mist, holding the Co2 extinguisher by the top of the horn will result in a bad cold burn. The skin can not tolerate the temperature at which the mist is dispersed and holding the extinguisher improperly can cause serious bodily damage. For this same reason, it is never recommended to use a Co2 extinguisher on a person whose clothing has caught on fire.

Different Ways to Hold Title to Property

Whenever you are looking to purchase a home, questions about tenancy in common and joint tenancy might come up when there are several individuals. These persons might be common law partners, a married couple, a single parent with a child of legal age, brothers and sisters or completely unrelated persons wishing to invest. What the two types have in common is the fact that there are two or more people who share ownership of a single piece of property.

With joint tenancy the owners own all the property with their interests joined together and not subject to division. There are conditions and rules that apply with this type. First, making decisions must be done together with respect to the property such as to sell it. Any other issues about the property must also be jointly decided on. For example, taking out a second mortgage would need to be jointly decided on and applied for under the joint tenancy form of ownership.

The title form of tenancy in common is slightly different from holding property jointly. Under tenancy in common individuals may own pieces or divided shares. The shares may or may not be equal and in this instance when it comes to disposing of property one person can sell their share, take a second mortgage out, or do whatever they will with their share. It is owned as a separate entity from the other individual's ownership.

Here are a few things to consider when you are buying a piece of property and deciding about choosing to buy it under tenancy in common or joint tenancy. The first thing to keep in mind is that when looking at tenancy in common, there is no requirement for the owners to agree to an action in regards to the property. In other words, the owner (either or any) can sell his or her share without anyone else's agreement. The problem is that most people will not want to buy just a part of the property.

In the case of purchasing a home with others, then, the joint tenancy form can be a problem when it is time to sell the property. You are going to find the biggest benefit will most likely come from the use of joint tenancy. This is because when several individuals hold the property, both owners must agree for anything to occur with the property, so their offering it for sale means the undivided property is for sale, without any separation of interests.

With joint tenancy, should one of the owners die while they own the home, the property automatically and cleary reverts to the remaining property owner. Under tenancy in common the property share can be willed, subject to death taxes, inheritance taxes and a host of other complications which can come when a property owner dies. This can be difficult for the buyer, surviving owner and the person or organization to which the share of the decedent was willed.

There can be instances, however, even for a home or residential property, where holding tenancy in common can be the best way to go. It might be best in some circumstances for a residential property where there are multiple residences on the property. It may be more beneficial to use tenancy in common, which would allow each of the individual owners to have complete control over their individual share.

For a few more advice about real estate, here are some more pitfalls to avoid when selling which we hope you will find informative.

Tips For Finding Camping Showers

There is one overriding concern when talking about camping, and that is hygiene. Going camping means that you have to spend several days or weeks with no clear idea what your shower conditions will be. Getting dirty in the open is something that usually happens the first hour you go outside, so camping showers are especially essential when talking about having a good time. Camping always includes a lot of adventure in the wild nature outdoors, and this is inevitably matched with sweat, dirt, mud, and whatever disgusting stuff you can imagine on your body and clothes.

Some public camps do indeed offer you a place for showering. But this means that they are meant to give no privacy in other ways. Camps that include shower service usually put you in the middle of a dozen unknown strangers that are camping together with you. Public camps are by no means a refreshing vacation. You get no privacy, you hear all the noise other campers make, you can go at no place where you are totally sure no-one will spring out of the bushes during you’re on a romantic picnic with your mate. Public camps are only suitable for groups of people, which hire the whole camping site for themselves, they know each other and can enjoy being so close together, as well as fully enjoy the camp showers.

But what would other people who strive for privacy do? Go together deep in the forest and stay barbaric for days? There are some opportunities, which you can avail of when camping together with your friends or family. When on a remote camp, you can make use of the plain bucket of water. It is convenient, water is warmed by the sun and you can fully enjoy cleaning with such an environment-friendly tool. But if you like real shower with pouring water, perhaps you can use another installation. The shower bags, which are filled up with water and hung on a tree bough, were a great option in the past. The water again being warmed by the sun, the shower bag’s bottom had a spigot made to pour the water outside. The switch controls the turning on and off. The whole installation could easily be hidden by a blanket, which ensured some privacy for the shy nature lovers.

But what if there was no sun and the whole vacation is spoiled by cloudy or semi-cloudy weather? Well, your opportunities for getting a shower in this case are the following: either you wait you the rain to come, or you use the sophisticated camping shower models. Their big priority is that they offer warm water for everyone, no matter what the weather conditions are, and no matter how many people are going to take a shower. One camping shower provides pop up sides and a heavy mesh flooring to stand on. The sides are made of mesh that allows air flow, but you cannot see into the camping shower from the outside (which is good when it comes to taking away those revealing blankets and getting some real feeling of being alone). The improvement of camping showers means that there are more and more new showering models being sold. You can really avail of them and enjoy a nice and, what is more, CLEAN holiday in the private camps.

Equipment For Cave Exploring

Caving is generally considered as one of the most inexpensive sports in the world. However, it is also classified as one of the most dangerous sports in the world. Dangers are everywhere. Take this as a challenge of your personality and not as a frightening reality.

Meanwhile, whether you are an expert or a beginner in the world of caving, you have to secure yourself with the basic caving equipments. These caving equipments aren't that difficult to find. You may borrow, rent, or buy your caving equipment. But if cave exploration isn't included in your long-term plan, borrowing is a good option. You may borrow these equipments to anyone whom you know from a caving club. In most cases, trip leaders have a complete set of these basic caving equipments.

Here is the list of basic caving equipments with their corresponding descriptions:

• Head Protection Most caves have low ceilings. You never know when a rock is going to fall on your head. Those are the simple reasons why you need head protecting equipment such as a helmet.

While being fascinated by the views inside a cave, you may not be aware that you are running or standing where pointed rocks are above or on the ground. These are common cave exploration happenings. Basically, the helmet you need must have shock absorption. Most helmets for climbing have this. And if you choose to buy your own, it will only cost you $50 to $75.

Your helmet must be durable and its chin strap must be inflexible and easy to release. Your helmet is good if it contains a minimum of three point mountings. These mountings will be used for your light sources.

• Lighting When it comes to lighting, hands-free lightings are the best choices. Avoid climbing and balancing while holding a flashlight as much as possible. Doing the otherwise is such a dangerous thing. Your choice of lighting may vary according to your personal preference and to the type of cave you will be exploring.

If you are buying a flashlight or a headlamp, choose the one that has white Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). These have longer life span and often extend their life span than those incandescent bulbs. Plus, you won't be having burned-out bulb troubles. Also, buy a headlamp with a flexible headband at a minimum cost of less than $25 or more.

Just a reminder, have at least two helmet mounted reserved headlamps. You will have extras if in case the primary headlamp fails. Don't buy those undependable and short-lived flashlights like those bought on drugstores.

Also, bring some candles and waterproofed match sticks. Cyalume light sticks are good but you won't know if what you've brought is working. Of course, don't forget your extra batteries. You have to purchase batteries similar to the ones with your primary headlamp.

• Clothing Your choice of clothing depends on the temperature of your target cave. Ask for recommendations from your trip leader.

It is advisable to have groups within your whole team. It'll be better if each group has three to four members. This group will generate more body heat than the other groups with more than five members. It is because larger groups tend to move slowly and often take some pauses. Remember, your body will generate more heat when you are in action.

Now you know the materials. So prepare and be on the move!

Trampoline Sizes: 5 Things You Should Keep in Mind

Remember the trampolines that were available when we were kids? I sure do, and I'll tell you what, they were a lot different than the trampolines that are available today. In fact, the trampolines I remember were about 3 feet wide and meant for nothing more than jumping up and down vertically until you got tired (or bored). In fact, I think they call those mini trampolines now, and they are usually used for exercise.

But now, there are trampolines in all sizes, and with the way kids use them these days it's almost an acrobatic sport as opposed to a toy, with people doing all kinds of tricks and even using boards on them. Not only are the mini trampolines still popular, but now an 8ft or 10ft trampoline is considered fairly compact, or if you've got extra room and a budget, you can get a 13X13ft square jumbo trampoline.

So what size should you get and why? Let's look at some of the variables to consider.

1. The Size of the Jumpers

The first thing to think about is the size of your jumpers—or the weight, to be more specific. An 8ft model might be good enough for small children, but if your kids are getting a little bigger and heavier, you should probably spring for the 10ft trampoline at the very least. This can support quite a bit more weight and activity.

If adults are going to be getting on to it, you should get a family-sized or jumbo trampoline that is built to support more weight.

2. The Size of Your Yard

Another obvious factor is the size of your yard. You don't want to just squeeze it in where you can make it fit; you need to have adequate room for clearance so that people don't bounce off and hit something close by. Even if your trampoline comes with netting, which is a great safety feature to have, you need 16ft of clearance for an 8ft trampoline, 18ft for a 10ft trampoline, and 21X21ft for a 13X13 jumbo trampoline.

3. How Much Bounce You Want?

How much bounce do you want your trampoline to have? You can generally assume that the bigger the model, the more bounce it will have. More bounce also means less surface stability, so when children are walking around, they will need good balance to keep from falling over. This can be good for developing their motor skills, but keep in mind that for smaller children it can be a bit less fun if they can't even stand up.

4. How Active Are Your Jumpers?

What the jumbo trampolines are really good for are active jumpers—not only for the additional bounce but the room to move around. As kids get older and enter their teen years, they need quite a bit more out of a trampoline, and many will start doing tricks, like flips, to have more fun and test their bodies more. Some kids on trampolines can be likened to a gymnast in the skills they develop.

5. Big Doesn't Mean Room for More

Keep in mind that a bigger trampoline does not mean the more the merrier. Significant injuries often result when more than one jumper goes at the same time, regardless of the size of the trampoline.

So look at all these different variables and think about what size you need to get the ultimate in both safety and fun.

One for Ten Cabin Fever in Haines Alaska

Mountains, massive piles of rock and earth shaped by glaciers, erosion, and weather; can conjure feelings of awe, enlightenment and fear in people. For millions of years weather systems have shed soft crystals of snow on these massive peaks, and now we stand as mere specs in the history of these giants, aloft on their high ridgelines. As we descend a sensation secretes from our brains pulsing throughout our bodies as adrenaline, sculpting our passion to return to the top of these towering peaks over and over again.

Pursuing their love for the mountains, Jason Shutz, Bill Buchbauer, Annie Fast, Chris Ankeny and Tom Routh headed for southeast Alaska in late April– Haines, Alaska to be exact. Haines has been moderately popular among the ski and snowboard film crews for years, but still contains plenty of pristine wilderness only attainable by glacier plane and split board. The posse, made up of Montanans, headed to Haines for an affordable backcountry trip aboard Cessna ski planes. They were armed with split boards, mountaineering gear, and winter camping equipment. During the first two weeks of April the group bagged a lot of great sunny days up on the glaciers, split boarding new lines and eying up lines for next year.

After a full day of Air Travel from Montana I arrived in Haines, Alaska aboard a single engine Cessna. Haines is positioned at the North end of Alaska's Inside Passage and at the Northern end of America's longest Fjord. The town shares its border with 20 million acres of protected wilderness: Glacier Bay National Park is 25 miles by air, and Canada's Kluane National Park and Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park are just up the road. A Bald Eagle Preserve is also just outside of Haines giving the area an amazing collection of dramatic scenery and plethora of wildlife.

Day Two of my trip was like 99% of Alaska days: it rained. The Montana posse that I came to hook up with spent the day recuperating from a 4-day backcountry camping /split-boarding trip. I sat and listened to spook stories about new uncharted areas with sketchy snow pack, hairball plane flights onto glaciers, and all the great runs in between. Make no mistake; no matter where you ride at home, Alaska is bigger. Everything in AK is big: the mountains, the fish, the wildlife, the trees, everything is just so damn gigantic. The air was getting cold and it was snowing on the peaks; our conversations turned to the next mission once the sun broke again and the stoke began to build among us.

The rain continued for the next eight days with little sign of the sun. Chris, Annie, and Tom went home leaving Jason, Bill, and I to wait for the sun. Pool, darts, scrabble, ping-pong, eating, reading, beer, coffee, beer, coffee, fishing, hiking, and hacky sack became the motion of the days. Cabin fever can invoke some strangeness in people and after eight days of rain and no riding; the walls were closing in – I can't take it, I can't take it. Freaking out and pounding your head on the wall is no way to deal with it, sowe ran around in the rain for a few hours. But that was a bad idea. We ate again even through we'd eaten an hour ago, and two hours before that. We were beginning to lose our minds and we only had two days left; The northern lights are out that evening and it was clear – would it be clear in the morning? That was the question.

We talked about just taking some heli runs if the sun did shine because your chances of getting to fly in the heli in moderate light is better than it is in the ski planes. The ski plane pilots need very clear days in order to see the ever-changing landscape that they are landing on, where with a helicopter you don't need a runway to take off and land. Besides after you land in a plane you usually still have to hike up to the top of your line. The drawback was that there was only one helicopter operating in town and there were six groups wanting to go out. We hoped that the Men's Journal Adventure Team which was there with a group of ski racers and ski legends would go for their main objective – a peak on the coast; which would mean a lot less of a cluster getting onto the heli.

With the original plan for some glacier plane trips into Glacier Bay National Park for split boarding and a winter camp squashed by the weather, and the chance to heli jaded by the adventure boy team, the drinking waged on and on. The locals say that you can drink it blue.

Well, after nine days of drinking, the sun finally shone, and we headed to the heli at 33 mile for day ten, the last day in Haines. Being on the not so special list, we finally got out at around 4:00pm for two runs with our ultra-cool guide Jim: the first was on "Deflowered" and the second on "Hangover Helper" – short runs in Alaska standards, but pretty damn big anywhere else. The snow was blower, lots of new snow from the eight days of precipitation and just enough cold air to keep it light and fluffy late in the day. All of a sudden it was 7pm and we had to haul ass to catch the ferry. Cramming all of our stuff, the three of us, and Jason's dog Chewe into the helicopter pilot's 1970's Subaru was a bold task, but we got it done; and off to Juneau we went to catch the plane home.

After nine down days I was leaving Alaska 1 for 10. Two long powder runs in the bag made for a relaxing ride to Juneau on the ferry, and many daydreams longing for more on the plane ride home.

Alaska is a land of adventure. You don't have to be loaded to ride high powdery peaks in Alaska; you just have to have solid backcountry knowledge, glacial travel experience, and knowledge of the local mountains. Three people can catch a ride on a glacier plane (Drake Olson / Earth Center Adventures ( 907- 723-9475) at one time and depending how far you go into the mountains, you can expect to pay about $300 each for the roundtrip in and out. Once you're there you can explore via split board for the day or camp out for as long as you like; just remember tent fever comes on a lot quicker than cabin fever!
